Supreme Council of Magistrates delays taking legal action against judges

The Supreme Council of Magistrates postponed examining a number of issues concerning the taking of legal action against a number of judges. The application to start criminal cases against the judges was submitted by Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin, IPN reports.

The first matter, concerning the holding accountable of the Chisinau Appeals Court judge Mihail Ciugureanu, was postponed in order to additionally examine certain information. The prosecutor proposed starting a criminal case over a number of illegalities committed by the judge.

The examination of other matters was put off because the judges to which they referred were absent from the meeting of the Supreme Council of Magistrates. These are: Chisinau Appeals Court judges Eugeniu Clim and Ala Nogai, former Chisinau Appeals Court judge Aureliu Colenco, and former judge of the Balti Appeals Court Valeriu Harmaniuc.
