Families from the village of Floreni, Anenii Noi district, will get 500 lei from the local authorities when giving birth to children, in addition to the subsidies offered by the government. Valeriu Munteanu, the mayor of the village, has told Info-Prim Neo the decision was approved by the local council targeting to stimulate the birth rate. “Floreni has been a birth leader in the district for seven years and we want to keep the tradition,” he said. According to mayor Valeriu Munteanu, the village mayor office has set up a special fund in this respect. “If some 50-55 babies are born this year, we won’t need too large a sum. It’s only a beginning, and if we have money, we may double the sum next year,” the mayor said. At the same time, the Floreni local council has decided to give 500 lei to the retiring. There were born 63 babies last year in Floreni village.
