About 20 persons danced in the Great National Assembly Square on Tuesday evening, expressing solidarity with singer Pavel Turcu. The dancers form part of the initiative group of the support campaign “Pavel Turcu”, which was launched after the singer failed the national preselection with the song “Imn Eurovision”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Grosu, the leader of the campaign, said they want to encourage Pavel Turcu through dance. “Pavel Turcu is a courageous person. He dared to pursue his goal despite difficulties. We consider his song deserves representing Moldova in Oslo,” he said. Ion Grosu also said the jury offered no chance to the singer as they used standardized regulations and selected songs that cannot astonish Europe. Doctor of Philosophy and lecturer Angela Spinei, who is a supporter of Pavel Turcu, said Turcu is an optimistic and joyous person who can make a show and he represents the Moldovan people. “Pavel presented a different song. The 25 songs that were selected by the jury are alike, but we need a change of image. I think Pavel could do this.” The supporters chanted “Pavel Turcu, You will Get what's Yours”. Corina Ajder, a member of the support group, said through these words they encourage Pavel Turcu to go on and not give up. According to the organizers, the support group was created on January 10 and consists of ten persons, while the Pavel Turcu fan club on the Internet includes about 1,500 persons. So far, Pavel Turcu's song was watched on www.youtube.com by approximately 200,000 people. Press reports say Pavel Turcu, 35, works as a guard in Ungheni town. He is married and has two children. He is a carpenter by profession.
