Members and sympathizers of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) on January 15 staged a flashmob meeting near the Botanica branch of the Chisinau Court of Law, demanding that the Shor case should be immediately translated and should be transmitted to the Appeals Court, while Ilan Shor should be convicted of involvement in the banking frauds, IPN reports.
PAS deputy chairman Mihai Popsoi said that the case has been translated for seven months and this is evidently an intentional delay in trying the case. In this case, the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor was sentenced to seven years and a half in jail. “127 pages can be translated from Romanian into Russian during several days. This state, the Republic of Moldova, cannot translate the resonant case of the key player of the theft of the US$ 1 billion. This is an intentional delay to enable Mister Shor to enter Parliament. The protection provided by Mister Plahotniuc to Mister Shor is obvious,” stated Mihai Popsoi.
Vladimir Bolea, a member of the PAS Standing National Bureau, reminded that both of the reports presented by Kroll show that Ilan Shor bears a considerable part of the blame for the committed frauds and the case should be fully elucidated.
On June 21 last year, the Chisinau Court of Law sentenced the ex-president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor to seven years and a half behind bars for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of power. The decision can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court. Until a definitive judgment is passed, Ilan Shor will be free.
