The National Union of Agricultural Producers Associations “UniAgroProtect” asked Prime Minister Iurie Leanca to become involved in dealing with the shortage of anti-hail rockets. According to a communiqué from the Union, the supply of anti-hail rockets was about 90% used and at least 2,000 rockets need to be purchased immediately, IPN reports.
“Currently, practically all the agricultural lands are not protected from hail. Owing to the unstable weather conditions of the last few weeks, the farmers almost daily sustain losses of millions of lei because of hail. The danger of hail will persist the coming months too,” it is said in the communiqué.
According to “UniAgroProtect”, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry recently sent letters to the Ministry of Finance and the Government, asking identifying additional financial resources for buying anti-hail rockets, but all the requests were ignored.
