The Supervisory Board (SB) requested the president of the “Teleradio-Moldova” Company to produce until Wednesday, May 30, a detailed report on the news programmes broadcasted on May 18, 21 and 22. The SB’s request is a response to the decision by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) that warned the public stations “Radio Moldova” and “Moldova 1” over lack of political and social pluralism in the course of the election campaign. Initially, SB decided to react to the BCC warning in its Monday’s meeting, on May 28, but renounced for the reason that the TRM president was not announced beforehand to prepare a report on the violations named by the regulation authority. Besides, BCC chairman Corneliu Mihalache failed, for health reasons, to attend the meeting to answer the SB members’ questions. Teleradio Moldova president Valentin Todercan has disputed the BCC decision, terming it an “illiterate paper” which he is intended to sue in court. Nevertheless, he accepted to present the solicited report. The Supervisory Board plans to obtain by Wednesday monitoring reports from other institutions so as to make a comparative analysis. Also on Wednesday, SB promised to emit an official decision.
