The summer season in the day camps of the municipality of Chisinau has closed. This year, the 56 working camps accommodated 4,685 children, by about 400 fewer than in 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, the day summer camps aimed to develop the intellectual abilities of the children who were involved in different useful and enjoyable activities. “We tried to combine the useful and the pleasurable and to cultivate the respect for the identity and human rights and freedoms. The children took part in the formulation of the code of conduct in camps,” said the Division’s vice director Valentina Cujba. The different contests held at the day camps included the asphalt drawing contest “Nice is My Native Land”, the poetry contest “We about the Homeland”, the musical contest “My Country Moldova, My Beautiful Birthplace”, the design contest “Red, Yellow, Blue”. All the activities formed part of the plan of action dedicated to the anniversary of 650 years of the foundation of the Moldovan state. The sporting-cultural contest “Joyful Starts” organized in concert with the district heads’ offices of Chisinau was a large-scale event. “The children from the camps watched the puppet shows “Guguta”, “Izvorasul”, “Magic”, “Licurici”, went on trips in nature, visited monuments of historical importance for the municipality and the country. Close cooperation was established this summer with the municipal libraries “O.Ghibu”, “A.Russo”, “I.Creanga”,” Valentina Cujba said. The mayors’ offices of Condrita, Truseni, Ghidighici, Vatra, Bacioi, Tohatin, Cruzesti, Codru, and Ciorescu did not manage to open day camps. The day summer camps were financed from the municipal budget. About 2 million lei was allocated for the purpose. The parents’ contribution was over 370,000 lei. They paid 20% of the cost of the tickets. 1,318 tickets were offered free of charge. A sum of 61,000 lei was saved.
