The Chisinau Public Health Center will inspect the summer camps before the start of the summer season at end-May. Inspectors will check if the business entities take measures to meet the conditions for obtaining authorizations for running summer camps, IPN reports.
Luminita Suveica, chief doctor of the Chisinau Public Health Center, in a roundtable meeting said there will be examined the hygienic conditions, the equipment of cooking facilities and medical units, the measures taken to kill insects and rats.
The parents are recommended to visit the summer camp before taking the child there and to inform themselves in detail about the conditions there.
Tudor Puiu, division head at the Center, recommended the managers of summer camps to place traps for rats in concealed places so that the children do not have access to these, to hermetically close all the areas where rats can penetrate and to set up nets in basements. The chemical disinfection will be performed by the Public Health Center.
The specialists discussed the problems identified at summer camps the previous season. The camps were overloaded in particular periods and the regulations concerning the opening of medical units weren’t respected. The menus at some of the camps included products that are not recommended to children, such as carbonated drinks.
In conclusion, the specialists of the Public Health Center insisted that measures should be taken to promote a healthy lifestyle in camps. This implies moderate physical effort, a balanced diet and a positive attitude to things.
The municipality hasn’t yet made public the number of tickets available to summer camps this year and hasn’t yet invited summer camps to submit bids.
