The day summer camps that start work on July 1 will accommodate almost 4,000 children. About 60 such camps that are managed by education institutions will be opened this year. Senior consultant of the General Education Division of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Daniela Kotovitskaya has told IPN that the 75 full-stay summer camps that start work on June 4 will lodge about 60,000 children.
A day at a full-day summer camp costs 137 lei, while at a full-stay camp about 175 lei. 25% of all the tickets are offered free of charge, while the rest are sold for 20% of the price.
Free tickets to summer camps are given to children from families that benefit from social welfare, one-parent families or families with many children, children of parents who took part in the Nistru war and the Afghanistan war and in the Chernobyl cleanup, children with high academic standing and students of boarding schools. The latter will rest at the camps chosen by the administration of the institutions, based on the agreed budgets.
In the May 28 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, acting head of the Chisinau Division of Education, Youth and Sport Rodica Gutu said there will be 23 day summer camps that will welcome over 2,000 children from the municipality. As many as 375 children will benefit from free tickets. A 15-day stay will cost 1,160 lei. The parents will pay only 232 lei. The cost of stay at day camps for 70 students of Auxiliary School No. 7 and of the Technological Lyceum for Visually-Impaired Children will be fully covered with municipal budget funds.
The three full-stay summer camps managed by the Botanica and Centru Education Divisions will accommodate over 5,000 children, 790 of whom will benefit from free tickets. The rented camps will provide rehabilitation services for over 6,000 children. Of these, 1,000 will benefit from such services free. Over 8.7 million lei was allocated for the purpose.
