Sugar prices in Moldova in the second half of March fell by 3-5% following the change in trends on the world markets and the stabilization of the sugar supply in the neighboring country Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Union of Sugar Producers. Experts of the Union say the prices of sugar will continue to get stable and there will be no sudden fluctuations until the start of the sugar beet harvesting campaign. “This will allow ensuring acceptable sugar prices for the consumers and will enable the sugar beet producers to earn higher incomes and cover the losses sustained as a result of last year's drought,” it is said in the communique. According to the Union of Sugar Producers, Moldovan sugar producers' wholesale prices for retail outlets is 13 lei/kg, while for industrial consumers - 11-12 lei/kg.
