The state will offer subsidies for stimulating the development of organic farming. These will be allocated from the national agriculture and rural development fund. The distribution method will be decided by the Government. This is provided in a bill that was endorsed by the Parliament’s commission on agriculture and food industry, IPN reports.
The bill contains provisions designed to ensure the sustainable development of ecological production, fair competition and appropriate functioning of the domestic market of organic products. The document also specifies the products and substances that can be used in ecological production, labeling and certification of ecological products, the importation and exportation of these.
Under the bill, an automated information system concerning ecological production will be instituted to ensure the monitoring and exchange of data about activities in the field of agrifood production. The bill authors propose transferring a number of duties to the National Food Safety Agency.
The legislative proposal was drafted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and envisions the harmonization of the national legislation with the EU legislation.
