Increased subsides will be provided for the animal-breeding sector for the first time. Those who breed livestock (cows, sheep and goats) can benefit from subsidies that were raised from 50% to 70% of the value of the investment. Winegrowers and winemakers will also get higher subsidies for setting up support systems and vineyards with types of grapes for wine, as a decision adopted by the Cabinet on April 4 provides, IPN reports.
Sergiu Gherciu, secretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, said that investments in milk production will be encouraged in the animal-breeding sector. The subsidy for investments made by groups of producers and cooperatives of entrepreneurs in the development of post-harvest and processing infrastructure was raised from 50% to 75% so as to encourage agricultural producers to form associations. The subsidy ceiling for these was increased from 5 million lei to 7 million lei for a subsidization year.
There will be subsidized half of the cost of seeds of legumes as national products, but not more than 2,000 lei per ha. The ceiling was raised from 800,000 lei to 1.5 million lei per beneficiary of equipment and installations for producing renewable energy.
Compensatory payments of 2,500 lei per ha will be paid to education intuitions and research and innovation institutions working in the agricultural sector and to water user associations for using nitrogen-fixing crops and “green fertilizers” for promoting and developing ecological farming in Moldova.
The funds available in the Agriculture and Rural Development Subsidization Fund this year total 1.75 billion lei, up from 1.1 billion lei in 2021.
The Cabinet members started the April 4 meeting with a moment’s silence observed in memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine. By presidential decree, April 4 was declared a national day of mourning for the victims of the Russo-Ukrainian war. “During the last few days, we were shocked by the terrible images of Bucha and other Ukrainian cities. These images show how cruel this war is. Such deeds should definitely be attentively probed at international level,” said Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
