Starting today, August 25, and until September 15, candidates can apply for the position of director of the National Anticorruption Center. Head of Parliament’s juridical Commission on appointments and immunities Victor Popa told Info-Prim Neo that the applicants will be expected starting early in the morning.
Candidates must have a degree in juridical studies, and at least 10 years work experience in the juridical field. Additionally, they should not be members of any political Parties. The contest does not accept people with criminal records, and people medically inapt for exercising the attributions of this position.
Organizational and professional skills will be tested through a written exam and an individual interview, during September 19-21. The results of the contest will be evaluated and announced by the juridical Commission during a special meeting that will take place somewhere around September 28 and October 1. Until October 1, the juridical Commission is to present their candidate to the position of head of the National Anticorruption Center to the Parliament.
At the end of May the Parliament voted a bill on the reformation of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption (CCECC). The Center will be renamed to National Anticorruption Center starting October 1. The amendments voted aim at taking the center outside of the branch’s centralized public administration bodies, and at establishing new criteria for appointing and dismissing the head of the institution. The change in the procedure comes from the logic that the function of an anticorruption agency director should be protected from political fluctuations. The CCECC reform is part of the Moldova – European Union Action Plan, in the dialogue for a liberalized visa regime.
