Students’ winter vacation is over, UPDATE

The winter vacation has come to an end. From January 10, the students resume lessons, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The primary and secondary school students went on vacation on December 25, when it is celebrated Christmas according to the new calendar, and returned to classes on January 10.
Last year the vacation lasted from December 24 until January 11.
[UPDATE] About 7% of the students were absent from classes on the first day after vacation. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Zinaida Popescu, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said 5,821 students of the total 76,675 missed the lessons in the municipality of Chisinau. Of them, 2,251 are sick. Many of the absentees have not returned from their grandparents or their parents who are abroad. Others are taking part in sports competitions.
