Students to help lonely elderly persons

In the period of April 4-15, students of high schools situated in Chisinau and the district centers will be given a lesson centering on the problems faced by the lonely elderly people and the possibilities of helping them. The lesson forms part of the Eastern campaign “Meal of Joy” that is launched by the Social Mission “Diaconia” of the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Mission, the lesson themed “It’s Time to Help a Lonely Elderly Person” is aimed at cultivating the feeling of social solidarity between generations and at overcoming poverty by education. The students will be also invited to contribute to collecting food products for elderly persons. Before the Easter holidays, the parcels with foods products will be distributed to lonely elderly persons through the agency of priests. The drive is held with the blessing of the Metropolitan Bishop of Bessarabia, His Holiness Petru and with the consent of the Ministry of Education and managers of education institutions.
