The students of several higher education institutions from Moldova told about numerous corruption cases they witnessed or participated in at the second round of public debates organized within the frameworks of the autumn session of the „European Dialogues” session, which took place on Wednesday, September 13. The participants, students of higher education institutions, analyzed the problem of corruption in the educational and law enforcement bodies’ system, presenting different cases when they are forced to participate in corruption actions. The General Inspector of the Prevention and Civil Interaction Section from the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption, Ion Pruteanu declared that it is difficult to counteract corruption cases which happen in universities because of the students’ lack of trust in law enforcement bodies. According to the cited source, even when they inform CCECC about certain cases, further they take back their declarations or refuse to participate in lawsuits. As a retort, several students explained this mistrust by the lack of an efficient mechanism of protection. The autumn session’s series of debates organized within the frameworks of the “European Dialogue” program aims at publicly monitoring by youth the implementation of the Action Plan Moldova-EU. Among the topics tackled at the debates are the interference between EGPRSP and the Action Plan Moldova-EU, the General System of Preferences (GSP+) for Moldova, New Instrument of the Neighborhood and Partnership Policy and others. The public debates are organized by IDIS “Viitorul” and the Association for Supporting Initiatives of Students and Youth (ASIST) with the support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation. These debates are organized each Wednesday at 16.00 at the IDIS “Viitorul”. Access is free for everyone interested.
