Students of a number of Chisinau high schools of staged flashmobbing events entitled “Stop accidents!”. By such events, held simultaneously in all the districts of Chisinau, the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport aimed to improve road traffic education among the most vulnerable category of traffic participants – the children, IPN reports.

At the “Gheorghe Asachi” Lyceum, almost 200 children danced in the square of the school and illustrated the colors of a stoplight with the help of three huge cloths. “By such an event, we aim to sensitize not only the children, but everyone, including the drivers. The flashmobbing encourages the culture of conduct among pedestrians and drivers,” said the lyceum’s deputy director Vasile Bodrug.

The Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb stated that such events are designed to sensitize the public opinion because it is very painful when an accident happens and it is very awful when a child is involved in an accident. “By the effort of the teachers at school and parents at home, we want to warn all the participants in traffic to be attentive as there is nothing more valuable than life,” she said.

In the other four districts of Chisinau, flashmobbing events were staged at the lyceums “Stefan cel Mare”, “Princess Natalia Dadiani”, “Constantin Negruzzi” and the sports lyceum “Gloria”,

According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, 17 children were killed and 227 were hurt in the 230 accidents that happened on the national roads in the first nine months of this year. Thirty-five accidents occurred through the children’s fault, while the rest were due to the inattention of drivers.
