A group of students of the Agrarian University and the Technical University visited the strategic facilities of the Chisinau water supplier, including the Wastewater Treatment Station in Chisinau, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, the students inquired about the water treatment stages, the role of the used reagents and the importance of the sodium hypochlorite in treating the water. The aim of the trip was to better understand the process of pumping and processing water and the technology of storing and treating the Nistru water.
The company’s specialists explained to the students that most of the pathogen microorganisms are eliminated by different treatment techniques, including coagulation, flocculation, decantation and filtering.
The visit forms part of the education project “Valuing water, you value life” that was launched by SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” in 2012. The project is aimed at raising young people’s awareness of the responsible use of drinking water resources.
