Starting with September 1, the students of six universities of Moldova will be able to study according to a new Erasmus+ program. This is a project that promotes problem-based learning. The students studying for their bachelor’s degree, starting with the second year of studies, will go to study at one of the EU partner institutions based on academic mobility. Each university of Moldova will benefit from 30 mobility programs for students, IPN reports.

Six programs of studies were re-designed within the project. The areas covered by the given programs include information technology, law and business management. The project will involve by 15 teachers of each institution taking part in this, including of the Academy of Economic Education, State University of Moldova, Technical University, and State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics.

Andrei Popa, teacher of the State University of Cahul, takes part in the project with the program “Entrepreneurship, Business and Administration”. He considers that this program manages to also change teachers’ views of the teaching-learning process, emphasizing the students’ value and capacity to enrich their knowledge.

Mihai Gavriliuc, teacher at the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics, said that by incorporating a pilot course in the Public Health specialty, they will manage to prove the viability of the new learning methods and will bring the spirit of reform and academic novelties to the university.

“Excessive theorization is one of the problems of higher education in Moldova. The goal of the project of which we form part is to switch over from classical, theorized education, where the teacher is a simpler provider of information, to education where the students are those who find the truth, who study and do research, who interact, work in a group and find solutions,” stated Ina Odinokaya, teacher at the State University of Balti.

The six programs of studies will be piloted from September 1 during three years and will be taught in English and Romanian. The total budget is of over €1.540, €650,000 of which is intended for student and personnel mobility.
