Students may remain without breakfast before vacation

Parents of students studying in Chisinau were informed that their children will not have breakfast at school from December 18 until the winter vacation that starts on December 24. The information was confirmed for Info-Prim Neo by Svetlana Glotova, principal of “Mihai Grecu” High School that is situated in Botanica district. She said that the Genital Division of Education of Youth and Sport made an order to this effect. On the other hand, the Division’s head Tatiana Tverdohleb said the information is incorrect and all the students in the municipality will be fed by the end of the term. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Tatiana Tverdohleb said they encountered a number of problems connected with the feeding of students because the methodology worked out by the Ministry of Finance provided there will be 155 days when students will be fed, but according to the education plan approved by the Ministry of Excitation there are 169 such days. “The municipality found resources to cover the costs of food for the 14 days. The situation in the rest of the country is different,” said the Division’s head. About 18,000 first-fourth graders and 6,000 fifth-ninth graders coming from socially deprived families are now fed at the municipal schools.
