A group of students from three Chisinau schools improvised a news conference themed “Under Guguta’s hat”. They played the role of a group of journalists and of Spiridon Vangheli’s beloved character Guguta. The participants put questions, recited poems, and then received diplomas, IPN reports.

“The goal was to promote the creation of the great writer. The children were active and prepared questions. Guguta was courageous and ingenuous. He answered correctly all the questions. We had worked on this event for two months, but it was worth the effort,” said Zinaida Ursu, division head at the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”, which hosted the event.

On the occasion of the Year of Spiridon Vangheli, the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” staged a series of events, including exhibitions and contest. A literary event will take place on June 14. “It is really a year of Vangheli. I don’t know if there is another living writer who is as promoted as he,” stated Zinaida Ursu.

Alexandra Gargaun, teacher at the Theoretical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi”, said the given event helped the children develop the team spirit, attention and interest in reading.

Fifth grader of “Gheorghe Asachi” Lyceum Nicolae Sclifos, who played the role of Guguta, said that it took him two months to read Spiridon Vangheli’s works. “I liked children’s questions a lot and I’m proud that I was able to answer them,” he stated.

The event was held as part of the cultural artistic program dedicated to writer Spiridon Vangheli. The author couldn’t come to the event for health reasons.
