Eighty-eight students from 29 Moldovan high schools learnt to correctly choose the career as part of the Start Smart project implementer by AIESEC Chisinau between March 4 and 7. Project coordinator Elena Vasilachi told a news conference held at Info-Prim on April 14 that during three days the students concentrated only on the planning of their future. “Often, the young persons choose a faculty according to the wish of the parents or as the friends advise. According to a survey carried out two years ago, a large part of the students that already choose a profession would make a different choice if offered the possibility as they have disappointed in the initial choice. There are cases when the students do not even know what they will study at the university when they choose a faculty,” Elena Vasilachi said. “We want to have an impact on the society. Therefore, our activities focused not on psychological tests, but on the way of thinking of every participant,” said the project coordinator. Elena Vasilachi also said that an accomplishment of the training seminar is the creation by the young people of Internet forums where they share their knowledge with other young persons. Diana Borodac, student of the Chisinau high school “Stefan cel Mare” and participant in the Start Smart Project, said during the conference that before taking part in the training seminar, she intended to choose a specialty in economy, but during the three days of the seminar, she decided to embrace medicine. “Most of the young persons lack time and cannot plan very well their daily activities. The Start Smart Project helps you to organize your activities more efficiently,” Diana Borodac said. The young persons were instructed by trainers from the local team of AIESEC and by invitees from the State University of Moldova, the Academy of Economic Sciences and the Technical University of Moldova. The training seminars included activities like personal analysis, planning of the studies, time management, opportunities in the academic period and workshops from the partner companies. Start Smart is at the second edition. Six high schools from Chisinau took part in the project in 2007. These were: “Gheorghe Asachi”, “Spiru Haret”, “Mihail Berezovski”, “Ion Creanga” and “Gaudeamus”. The training seminars were given by fix trainers from the United States and lasted for six weeks. The aim of the project is to help the young people to correctly choose the career and inform them about the existent opportunities and about their own abilities that need to be developed. AIESEC, the world's largest student organization, is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential so as to have a positive impact on society.
