Student suspected of defrauding firm director of 1,500 euros

Officers of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption arrested a student of the Economics Faculty of the Slavonic University. The man aged 21 is suspected of asking 1,500 euros from the director of a firm for helping him obtain a plot on Burebista Street in Chisinau on which to locate a kiosk, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Center’s press service, the young man told the firm director that he had influence on officials of the Chisinau City Hall and could persuade them to give him the plot he wanted. For his services, he asked 1,500 euros. When arrested, the man had the 1,500 euros on him. The Center said that the young man gave the money voluntarily and admitted his guilt. Legal action was taken against him. He is liable to 3 to 7 years behind bars or fine of up to 60,000 lei.
