The students are attracted by books with illustrations or they read only the material from the school program, being interested more in information that they can find on the Internet, shows a study presented by the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”. In the symposium “Innovative library services for children and adolescents”, held in Chisinau on April 4, the library’s vice director Lilia Tcaci said it is dangerous to let the children guide themselves by Internet information, IPN reports.
“The children prefer playing computer games rather than reading a book. It’s known that it is hard to keep the attention of a child,” said Lilia Tcaci, adding that the library must promote new attractive services for students, including workshops, debates on interesting themes, presentations of literary works, clubs on different areas of knowledge.
The symposium was organized by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport in concert with the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” and was aimed at highlighting the importance of the book in children’s and teens’ lives and at providing methodological counseling in selecting information and learning the protection norms in using information from new technological sources.
