A fifth grader from Budesti commune of Chisinau municipality broke several fingers as a result of an altercation with two mates. The mayor of the settlement and the school principal are surprised at such a development as the students have good grades and come from good families.

Contacted by IPN, the lyceum’s director Sergiu Branza said the students involved in the incident related that two of them started to quarrel in the school’s corridors, while the third intervened to calm things down. The director was informed about the altercation by the students’ class master, who brought them to provide explanations.

The mother of the ill-trusted boy was also informed about the incident and she took him home. But she soon called an ambulance. The student wasn’t hospitalized and he returned to classes after the fractured fingers were immobilized. The local police officer already had a discussion with the belligerent boys, while a psychologist will work with them throughout the term.

Sergiu Branza said it was the first case of the kind at the lyceum he heads. The council for child rights protection will hold a meeting to decide what measures to take to prevent similar situations in the future.
