Prime Minister Dorin Recean should show firmness in actions and should ensure discipline in government institutions. The new Government should act promptly to implement the reforms that would bring Moldova closer to the EU, said former MP Iurie Reniță and political commentator Ion Tăbîrță. For their part, the representatives of the parliamentary majority said the Recean Government needs to ensure stability and security in the country amid the war in Ukraine, IPN reports.

The PAS MPs noted that Dorin Recean and the government team will request the development partners to offer support to strengthen the defense capabilities. The security system is the new Government’s top priority. Dorin Recean has the capacities needed to ensure the country’s security.

“The profile of Premier Dorin Recean is of a security professional, of a former minister of internal affairs as he worked in this sector. The Republic of Moldova needs policies that would offer security. It primarily goes to interaction with the foreign partners as during 30 years they haven’t spoken about security in the Republic of Moldova even if we have a separatist regime and the illegally staying 14th army,” PAS MP Lilian Carp stated in the program “Good Evening” on the public TV channel.

“I would like to believe that the new Government will offer increased safety and security as we are now in a difficult regional and European security situation. In the Government, there should be a common voice and effective not declarative European integration,” said ex-MP Iurie Reniță.

In the same connection, political commentator Ion Tăbîrță said that to offer safety and confidence to the citizens, the Recean Government should act with firmness and should offer a long-term development view. Besides security, the new Government should also ensure higher living standards.

“The new Government is expected to give a new impetus to reforms, to stimulate economic growth. The Gavrilița Government rather acted as firefighters, dealing with crises, but didn’t have a development view. If we want to have a European course, we need a development view. Besides security and improvement of institutional functionality, I think economic growth will be a priority for the new Government. The current Government should show unity, common view and stricter discipline. In the Gavrilița Government, there was the impression that some of the ministries acted independently,” stated Ion Tăbîrță.

On Thursday, the PAS MPs voted in the Government led by Dorin Recean and this was later sworn in by President Maia Sandu. The main objectives of the government program entitled “Prosperous, SAFE, EUROPEAN Moldova” are economic development, state security, discipline in institutions and order in the country.
