Thunderstorms along with heavy rain caused damages in a number villages and towns in Căușeni district. Local roads and households were muddied in the villages of Fârlădeni, Tănătari, Cârnățeni, Hagimus and Ursoaia.

According to the Emergencies Inspectorate, in the city of Căușeni rescuers were called in to pump flood water out of basements and courtyards of apartment blocks on a number of streets. The basements of the Creativity Hall and the City Archive were also affected.

Căușeni deputy district head Serghei Gogu told IPN multiple calls were received from individual residents and businesses reporting damages, but a more accurate estimate of damages will only available tomorrow, as emergencies commissions are on the ground to evaluate.

Gogu added that crops were also affected.

In recent days, abundant rainfall caused damages in various parts of the country, affecting crops, local roads, houses and basements. A repeatedly extended ‘code yellow’ storm warning remains in place nationwide until at least midnight.
