The Central Election Commission (CEC) has five days to draw up the proceedings on the parliamentary elections. Within 48 hours of the totaling of the election results, the CEC submits the documents concerning the election outcome and the lists of elected MPs and of substitute candidates to the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.

If the election runners do not agree with the preliminary election results, they can ask for a vote recount before the validation of the results by the Constitutional Court. The recount must take place within seven calendar days of the adoption of the vote recount decision.

During ten days of the receipt of the documents from the CEC, but not before definitive decisions are passed on the challenges filed to courts, the Constitutional Court validates or invalidates the election outcome. It simultaneously validates the seats of the elected MPs and confirms the lists of substitute candidates. If the elections are legalized, the CEC issues permits to the elected MPs.

The newly elected Parliament comes together for the first constitution sitting when it is convened by Moldova’s President, within 30 days of the election day.
