Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Stela Grigoras aims to implement a number of reforms in the field, including to raise the minimum salary, to strengthen the institution of family, to create a social assistance agency and to reform the pension system. The minister detailed her plans in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Speaking about the social assistance system, Stela Grigoras said a specialized agency is to be set up. “It’s good that we have a social worker in each community. But there is great personnel fluctuation. The social assistant cannot be the only person who will solve all the social problems. Therefore, we need a social assistance agency to step up the activity of the Ministry,” she explained.

The minister noted that changes should be made to the legislation on family and child protection. “We must focus on the value of family. We received a country from our parents and must take care what we leave behind us. To become a powerful state, we must return to our roots. Moldova achieved many results in the child protection area. We will implement a system for strictly monitoring the children in difficulty,” said Stela Grigoras.

She also said that the retirement age must be increased. “The pensions will be increased if we raise the retirement age. We must also make the retirement age for men and women equal. Statistics show that the women live longer, but retire earlier. Such discrimination should be removed. We will start with an awareness-raising campaign for the people to understand everything about the pension. We have all the necessary arguments, studies and external support for launching this reform. If we do not reform the pension system, the pensions could be even decreased. We need political support in this regard,” stated the minister.
