The leader of the Party of Change, jurist Ștefan Gligor said the Supreme Law provides that a third attempt to vote in the Government can be made, but this will not happen due to the lack of time. According to Gligor, there is a high probability that the Government led by Igor Grosu will gain a vote of confidence from Parliament as many of the MPs are afraid of snap parliamentary elections, IPN reports.

Under the Constitutional Court’s decision, if the attempt to vote in the Grosu Government fails, the President is to initiate new consultations with the parliamentary groups. However, as Ștefan Gligor considers, the third attempt to vote in an executive supported by a formalized parliamentary majority would not take place.

“At least two attempts should be made to vote in a government during 45 days. If there is time left, the third attempt can be made. If we look at the calendar, we will see that there is not much time left. The 45-day period expires on March 28. Time is needed for the Cabinet to be formed and for the government program to be formulated. I don’t think there will be time for the third attempt,” Ștefan Gligor stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

Furthermore, the leader of the Party of Change said there are very big chances for Igor Grosu to be voted in not because that majority believes that the Grosu Government can help the country overcome the crisis, but because many of the MPs know that they will not pass the election threshold of 5%.

According to the jurist, in the absence of a parliamentary majority, the Grosu Government would not complete its duties. Igor Grosu would either resign or would be dismissed by a censure motion.

“The Grosu Government, not enjoying political support in Parliament, would have to resign at a certain moment and the epopee will start again as the legislature can be dissolved only by two ways. President Sandu undertook this mission before the voters and it will be very hard for her to later explain why she does not fulfill it,” stated Ștefan Gligor.

After the Constitutional Court ruled that the presidential decree by which Igor Grosu was nominated for premiership is constitutional, the nominated candidate said that he will submit the list of Cabinet members and the government program to Parliament the next few days. Igor Grosu said the overcoming of the health crisis and the cleaning of state institutions would be the priorities of his Government.
