Statistics show population does not know anything about EGPRPS

The majority of the population does not know anything about the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper, Ludmila Esanu, deputy head of the Coordination and Monitoring Development Program Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce told a public debate. At the debate „Interaction between EGPRSP and the Action Plan Moldova-EU in the process of European integration of Moldova”, organized by IDIS „Viitorul”, the cited source talked about the opinion poll published on the web page of EGPRSP. According to it, 54% of the respondents do not know anything about the Strategy. Esanu mentioned that this situation occurs despite the fact that the population of the Republic of Moldova has now more access to informational technologies and EGPRSP is discussed more often by the media institutions. According to the aforementioned opinion poll, in which 539 persons participated, 291 of them or 54% do not know, but are interested in EGPRSP. 216, or 40% know about the Strategy Paper and 32 persons or 6% show no interest. The Economic Growth and Poverty reduction Strategy Paper was approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in December 2004. EGPRSP is a medium term development strategy for Moldova, which includes the actions solicited by the Government in order to reduce poverty.
