The Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (CFFE) expresses its support for the national election minoring mission of Promo-LEX Association and rejects the denigrating attacks on the mission. In a press release, the Coalition says the observers of Promo-LEX during a number of election campaign they monitored showed that they have the qualifications needed to oversee elections, IPN reports.
According to the CFFE, the conclusions of the two reports produced by the mission are a consistent presentation of facts and phenomena that were seen and reported during a number of election campaigns, but weren’t solved. The approaching of the parliamentary elections of February 24 only emphasizes noxious behavior and practices that in time became deep-rooted, instead of being eliminated.
The problems to which those featured in the observations of the monitoring mission of Promo-LEX refer appear not because of the lack of a methodology or of subjective attitude of experts, but due to the confusion created deliberately by those who hold the instruments of power. They accept the political parties and their members to practice political, business, charitable, media, propagandistic, religious and other kinds of activities.
The Coalition also said such practices were constantly reported by observers. That’s why it is imperative for the public authorities to look for clear, unequivocal solutions to delimit the activities of political parties and their leaders from charitable, religious, business and media propaganda activities.
Last week, the Democratic Party said it decided to send its analysis of the two 2019 parliamentary election monitoring reports issued by Promo-LEX Association so far to the diplomatic corps in the country, OSCE observers and direct backers of the association (USAID, Soros Foundation, Council of Europe and British Embassy in Chisinau). The party considers these contain untrue, unverified and truncated information and this leads to the conclusion that the election monitoring activities of Promo-LEX are not at all objective.
