State Veterinary Service of Chisinau registers from 5 to 10 appeals with bird flu suspicion daily

The State Veterinary Service Chisnau registers from 5 to 10 appeals of bird flu suspicions daily. State interim veterinary doctor-chief of the capital Radu Mudreac said that the number appeals has increased after the frost had passed and certain households found dead birds in their yards. Fortunately, any test did not confirme the frightened virus H5, birds being dead because of pasteurellosis, bird cholera or the frost. He noted that an operative group have visited the persons who appealed to the hotline 74-25-11 and made the necessary investigations. At the moment, in all private households it is done the prophylaxis work by the veterinary-doctors, representatives of the local public authorities. After the introduction of the responsibility system (be signing an act) for keeping closed domestic birds, Radu Mudreac said, practically there was no case of free birds. In the same time, the employees of the Veterinary Service control the markets of the capital in order not to allow selling of living birds, including of decorative birds. At the moment, the necessary equipment and disinfecting goods are purchased in case of bird flu pandemia. On Thursday, at 9.00a.m., in the headquarters of the State Veterinary Service Chisinau will be organised exercises of simulating then actions in case of bird flu.
