More than 7 billion lei will be invested in putting into practice the plan of action for implementing the national regional development strategy for 2016-2020, IPN reports.
The plan, which was approved by the Cabinet in its last meeting, was worked out based on three specific objectives: ensured access to services and public utilities of a high quality; sustainable economic growth in regions, and improved governance in regional development.
The planned measures are aimed at developing the infrastructure of regional and local importance and at ensuring public services in the fields of solid waste management and water supply and sewerage. Increased attention will be paid to the strengthening of regional economy and tourist infrastructure in the development regions.
The largest part of the budget – 1.945 billion lei – will be used to develop regional and local road infrastructure. A sum of 469.1 million lei will go to increase energy efficiency of buildings, while 146.7 million lei to implement projects to develop tourism services. 109.72 million lei will be allocated for modernizing the solid waste management infrastructure.
The plan of action will be implemented with national public budget funds and from other sources allowed by the legislation.
