The Call Center of the State Tax Service will extend its services by providing consultancy on taxes to private individuals, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Call Center started work on January 12. Initially, it provided consultancy on how to calculate and pay the income tax. Now it offers expert advice on the calculation and payment of the property tax, tax paid by patent holders and other payments. According to Anastasia Vasiloi, head of the Foreign and Public Affairs Division of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, the taxpayers have asked 3,400 questions since the opening of the Call Center. Vasiloi said that in the near future, the seven specialists of the Center will also provide answers to private individuals-taxpayers: about how to calculate and pay taxes into the road fund and certain local taxes. The answers are offered free of charge in Romanian and Russian, from 8 to 17.00, on the short number 1525 dialed from a fixed-line phone. If the call is made from the mobile phone, the ordinary tariff for a call to a fixed-line number is charged. “In the future, the Center’s capacity will be extended and the specialists will provide consultancy on how to calculate and pay certain taxes collected from legal entities, such as VAT and excises. The State Tax Service is now working with the USAID/BIZTAR Project on this,” Anastasia Vasiloi said. The Call Center was set up under the Moldova Governance Threshold Country Program funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation. It is designed to reduce the human factor in the relations between the tax services and taxpayers and to prevent and combat corruption.
