The information about the fiscal obligations of taxpayers will be available online through the agency of a new electronic service called Taxpayer’s Current Account. The service was launched by the State Tax Service on March 31, IPN reports.
State Main Tax Inspectorate head Ion Prisacaru told a news conference that both private individuals and legal entities carrying out entrepreneurial activities and people-taxpayers will be able to see this information without needing to go to the local tax offices, using a computer connected to the Internet. “This way, we hope to increase the voluntary compliance among taxpayers so that they correctly and timely fulfill their fiscal obligations,” he stated.
The new service is available free on the website servicii.fisc.md and is accessible to holders of electronic signature or after the signing of the contract for connection to electronic services.
The service was launched with the support of the USAID BRITE project. Attending the news conference, U.S. Ambassador William Moser said that by accessing the Current Account, the interconnection between the State Tax Service and taxpayers will become more convenient and transparent and the cases of corruption of tax inspectors will be excluded.
Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu said the service will also enable to make public the lists of taxpayers that pay the largest taxes to the state budget and that have the largest debts.
The costs incurred for creating the new service were covered with money from the state budget (80,000 lei) and by USAID BRITE (US$65,000).
