The State Tax Service in 2010 carried out 5,602 inspections, the head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Platon said in a working meeting. He stated the information that about 40,000 inspections were performed last year at 10,000 companies is not accurate.
“Certainly there are also other types of inspections, like thematic controls and inspections carried out at the suggestion of the law enforcement bodies. But the related figures are needed by the Tax Service and even the companies, when refunding the VAT for example,” said Nicolae Platon, quoted by Info-Prim Neo
He also said that the improvement of the relations with the taxpayers is a priority for the Tax Service. Last year there was approved the taxpayer compliance program that is aimed at ensuring effective tax administration. The obligatory amount for being registered as VAT payer was increased from 300,000 to 600,000 lei.
Nicolae Platon stated that a new service has been launched this year – the generalized fiscal practice base, which is used both for taxpayers and for fiscal employees. Other functional services include the electronic statement and the fast-track tax return service implemented with the support of the project USAID/BIZTAR. There are introduced other information technologies so as to facilitate the communication between the taxpayers and fiscal subdivisions and reduce the subjective element in this relation.
