State Tax Inspectorate head suspended from post

The head of the Main State Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Vicol was suspended from post by an order of Finance Minister Veaceaslav Negruta, at the request of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry’s spokeswoman Cristina Nicolau has told Info-Prim Neo. Nicolae Vicol was arrested on February 15 by officers of the National Anticorruption Center on suspicion of passive corrupting, abuse of power, and illegal tapping of phones. The Inspectorate’s head denies the accusations, saying he was arrested by political order.
