The state security strategy is outdated and should have been changed earlier. Such opinions were stated in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Former chief of the National Army General Staff, General Ion Coropcean said that for a new security strategy to be worked out and adopted, the security conception should be modified. “There is an order in formulating such documents. First of all, there should be devised the conception and then the security strategy and the security strategies on areas. These documents must derive from the internal and external situation,” he said.

“The security conception of the state worked out in 2008 was outdated the moment it was adopted,” said the chairman of the Democratic Action Party Mihai Godea. “This conception was born expired. It is an anachronistic and bizarre document. In 2010 Parliament adopted the state security strategy based on this conception. We had blocked this document for a year as we wanted the security conception to be changed. The situation in the region also changed. The authorities decided to replace these outdated documents very late. We do not have even a military doctrine,” he stated.

The dean of the Faculty of Law of the Moldova Free International University Alexandru Cauia also considers that the state authorities should have changed the security conception and strategy long ago. “These things should have been discussed much earlier. It was normal for this to happen immediately after the formation of the new government. They speak about the information security as about cyber security only. But the most serious danger is the fact that the people, especially the young ones, no longer have confidence in this state and do not identify themselves with it,” he said.

The Supreme Security Council on March 23 decided that the state security strategy should be replaced.
