The Government decided to decrease from 25% to 20% the maximum quantum of bonuses of wages of the state employees having access to state secrets. The deputy head of Economy and Commerce, Sergiu Sainciuc, announced that the Government amended the Law 355 regarding the wage system of the employees from the public sector that stipulates establishment of a bonus to the salary for civil servants having access to state secrets, this bonus being different, depending on the access level to these secrets. Thus, the maxim quantum was reduced from 25% to 20 %. Sainciuc reported that this decrease is motivated by the wage increase in the public sphere, this way it is not necessary to allocate these bonuses previously set. The Law on the Sallary System in the public sector came into effect on 3 March 2006. In the light of this law, the head of state is paid 9,600 lei, the speaker and the prime minister – 8,800 lei, ministers and deputies – 7,100. Among the highest salaries are paid to the prime-deputy prime-minister – 8,400 lei, the vice-chairmen of the Parliament and deputy prime ministers – 8,000 lei, chairmen of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Justice Court – 8,800 lei, the chairman of the Account Court and the general prosecutor –8,300 lei. The head of UTA Gagauz-Yeri and the general mayor of Chisinau municipality will be paid 7,100 lei. The mayors of towns and villages will be paid a salary between 3,500 and 4,500 lei.
