The State Register of ethylic alcohol and alcohol goods’ circulation is being drafted and due to be implemented as of January 1, 2007, director of the Agroindustrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” Valeriu Mironescu says. Last week, the Government approved the concept concerning the functioning of this informational system. According to Mironescu, the implementation of this register makes it possible to operate with the quantitative, qualitative and fiscal monitoring of alcoholic goods marketed on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. Each consumer, wherever he would buy a bottle of wine, will be able to enter this international portal and find out everything about the producer, the product and its quality, mentioned Mironescu. Thus, through the implementation of this register, authorities hope to be able to protect the consumer from counterfeit products. It will also restrain the area of alcohol black market production via blocking trading products which are not registered in the system. The improvement of the situation in the field is a result of Moldova’s accession to the World Trade Organization, an event that increased rigors concerning the quality control and the legalization of using trade marks for import and export of alcohol goods. Moreover, supervising the circulation of alcoholic products is an important factor of assuring the economic security of the state and an instrument to boost incomes of the state budget. The Register will be administrated by the National Centre for control of alcoholic products’ quality, created for this purpose. The Center will have to control the quality of alcohol beverages in conformity with international standards, the quality of imported additives utilized in wine industry, to test and expertise alcoholic products, to authorize the alcoholic products intended for export.
