The government owns major shareholdings in five of the ten most efficient companies of 2008, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the consultancy company EVM Consulting, which compiled the rankings of the 50 most efficient companies in Moldova last year.
The first ten positions in the rankings are taken by market leaders in their areas of activity, in which the state owns major holdings: Moldovagaz (I place), CET-2 (II), Moldtelecom (IV), CET- 1 (V), and CET-Nord (VI).
The other five of the ten most efficient companies include private companies: Orange (III place), Lafarge Ciment (VII), Petrom-Moldova (VIII), Red Union Fenosa (IX), and Floarea-Soarelui (X).
The 50 companies last year reported an average operating profit of 111.5 million lee, an average net profit of 19.6 million lei, an average Return on Sales (ROS) of 9.91%, an average Return on Equity (ROE) of 16.27% and an average asset rotation of 1.15 times.
The rankings was compiled on the basis of five indicators (total operating profit, net profit, ROE, ROS and asset rotation) for 2008. They covered a sample of 307 joint stock companies, except commercial banks.
