The state of economic emergency in the Transnistrian region has been extended for another 30 days until April 9, IPN reports. The administration on the left bank of the Dniester says that the situation regarding gas supplies to the region remains unstable. The volumes arriving in the region today are not sufficient for industrial enterprises.

The state of economic emergency in the Transnistrian region lasts from December 2024.

As of January 1, 2025, Gazprom has halted gas supplies to the Transnistrian region with the expiration of the contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. For a month, Transnistrians were not only in the cold but also without light for five hours a day.

At the end of January, the European Union granted Moldova €20 million to buy gas for the left bank. The gas was granted as a loan to the Transnistrian region.

After the Transnistrian administration refused the EU's €60m in additional aid, Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselski announced that the Transnistrian region would pay for the gas from a Russian loan. Since February 14, MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG has been delivering the gas to the border with Moldova, from where it is transported to the region by Moldovagaz. Transit costs are paid by Tiraspoltransgaz in advance. The volumes coordinated with Chisinau, up to 3 million cubic meters per day, are not enough for industrial companies.
