The Commission for Emergency Situations of Balti municipality declared a state of emergency in the city due to landslides on Sfântul Nicolae St. According to the local public administration, these were caused by the repair works on water pipes carried out by the municipal enterprise “Regia Apă-Canal Bălți”, IPN reports.
The Commission adopted a number of measures to manage the crisis. First of all, the people whose houses are in the risk area were evacuated and offered shelter. Also, Sfântul Nicolae St was closed to vehicle traffic in order to prevent possible accidents.
The Balti mayor’s office said that all the services involved act promptly to improve the situation and prevent the worsening of problems. The citizens are urged to avoid traveling on this street and to use other routes.
“We ask the citizens to remain calm and follow the instructions of the authorities and services involved in managing this emergency situation. The Balti mayor’s office will constantly provide updated information about the developments,” said the institution.
