The recent Parliament decision to extend the state of emergency could be the last one if no exceptional situations intervene, said the head of the parliamentary legal commission for appointments and immunities Olesea Stamate, IPN reports.

The MP said the Government’s representative who presented the draft decision to the commission and in Parliament requested to prolong the state of emergency for only 30 days and explained the necessity of doing so. “According to him, this can be the last extension if nothing exceptional happens, God forbid,” Olesea Stamate stated in the program “New Week with Anatolie Golea” on TV8 channel.

She also said that in principle, the Cabinet prepared most of the legislative documents that Parliament needs to adopt to replace the ordinances made by the Commission for Exceptional Situations. At end-December, the documents will be adopted and the extension of the state of emergency will no longer be necessary.

The state of emergency was declared by Parliament on February 24, 2022 and was extended for multiple times since then, the last time on November 24 for another 30 days as from December 1.
