Retired SIS colonel Alexei Serebryanski, former foreign intelligence chief, says that the state of affairs at the Security and Intelligence Service has worsened over the past few years. According to him, this happens even if, at the beginning of her tenure, the head of state declared that she would not allow things to worsen in Moldova and she would not allow corrupt officials to work in the system and hold state ranks and positions.

The Security and Intelligence Service, in accordance with the law, is subordinate to the President of the Republic of Moldova. “Today, in the SIS there are people from the times of the Democratic Party, Dodon’s people and FSB graduates, who are promoted to high posts within the SIS under the protection of Druță (Sergiu Druță, SIS deputy director, e.d.),” Alexei Serebryanski stated at a press conference hosted by IPN.

He reminded of the news conference he held two months ago, in which he spoke about “the involvement of Dodon’s confidant and Gumeniuc’s relative Alexandr Pavlyuk in crimes, including discrediting Moldovan citizens and diplomats in Moscow.” According to Alexei Serebryanski, a criminal case was already started over this case. A number of employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed complaints against Pavlyuk.

“We, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, honest SIS officers, retired SIS officers and veterans, have been waiting for courageous decisions and actions from you for a long time. We understand that you, due to your busy agenda, didn’t have enough time to devote due attention to the SIS, and your advisers possibly don’t have experience or don’t understand this area in depth. But three years have passed and things do not change at the SIS. Moreover, they worsen from day to day,” said Alexei Serebryanski, addressing the head of state.

According to him, the people of the former President of the country feel very comfortable at the SIS, are promoted and have access to all secret information within the institution. “The SIS is daily involved in public crimes and scandals. I repeat, the basis of these illegalities was laid by Dodon’s generals - Esaulenco and Gumenyuk. The time has come for you, Missis President, to take a long-awaited, necessary, objective, legal and stringent decision to annul Dodon’s decrees to confer the rank of general on Esaulenco, Gumenyuk and Voicu,” stated said the former spy chief.

“I emphasize that, according to the law and the Constitution, only the President of the Republic of Moldova can revoke or annul presidential decrees. I inform you that such decisions were taken in Poland, the Baltic States, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany and other EU countries, which purged the intelligence services of corrupt people, withdrew military ranks from active officers and retirees, including the rank of general, withdrew state pensions and expelled officers with a dubious past from the system.”
