As the Liberal, Democratic and Liberal-Democratic parties have a meeting scheduled for 3 PM, political analyst Mihai Cernencu anticipates that during this 6th round of negotiations the parties are likely to distribute the state functions. He thinks politicians will negotiate the key roles in the future government. Mihai Cernencu warned that replacing current foreign minister Iurie Leanca could have disastrous consequences for the Moldovan foreign relationships. According to the analyst, the negotiation capacity is yet to reach its peak. Political leaders still have to learn how to reach a true consensus. Mihai Cernencu suggests politicians should follow the Western example: when a party disagrees with some issues, it adopts a stance of positive abstention, thus allowing other parties further promote their ideas. Commenting on the discussions between the Democrats and the Communists, the analyst seemed worried that PCRM no longer criticized the Democratic Party leader Marian Lupu. On Monday, December 20, the 5th trilateral meeting took place. The parties involved said that it marked the end of value debates and that concrete decisions regarding government functions and mechanisms would follow.
