The deputy head of the Chisinau Local Cadastral Office No. 1 and chief accountant of the state-run Experimental Technological Station “Codru” were arrested on suspicion of swindle of considerable proportions, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General’s Office established that in 2012-2016, by swindle and abuse of confidence, the suspects appropriated over 38.7 million lei from two women living in Chisinau on the pretext of helping them obtain plots of land located on Soseaua Hancesti St in the capital city.
When they realized that they were cheated, the victims went to the Prosecutor’s Office and the victims were arrested for 72 hours. These are aged 35 and 68 respectively. At the request of prosecutors, the deputy head of the Chisinau Local Cadastral Office No. 1 was already remanded in custody for a month. Tomorrow the court will take a decision on the arrest of the chief account.
The suspects face 8 to 15 years behind bars and ban on holding particular posts or performing particular activities for one to five years.
