The State Chancellery provided details following the call made by the media NGOs that rent offices in the Press House. It noted it made use of its right to initiate the renegotiation of the renting conditions based on the prices existing on the market, the offer of the applicants and other conditions on the real estate market, IPN reports.

In a press release, the State Chancellery says that in accordance with Annex No. 9 to the state budget law for 2021, the market coefficient (K4) is set by agreement by the sides and cannot be lower than 1.0, while for the kinds of activities carried out in areas mentioned in letter “d”, positions “1” and “6”, this cannot be lower than 0.5, except for the areas used by the mass media for which the coefficient is set in the interval between 1.0 and 1.5.

The General Division for the Management of the Government’s Buildings, which manages also the Press House and as the Lessor, made use of its right to initiate the renegotiation of the renting conditions. It also launched the process of renegotiating rental by increasing the market coefficient (K4) not only with media NGOs, but also with all those who rent areas in the Press House, the K4 coefficient for whom was the minimum one.

The State Chancellery, as the founder and the empowered authority, will check the correctness of the made changes only after these are negotiated by the sides.

The media NGOs on April 6 expressed their concern about the State Chancellery’s intention to raise the hire charges for the Press House and asked for urgent intervention to prevent such a move.
