The central authorities now enjoy the lowest level of confidence in the last 16 years of sociological measurements, being outstripped by the local authorities that are trusted more by the people. The local authorities are also those that are most often asked by the people to provide different services, even if they now administer the lowest part of the national budget, shows a national poll carried out by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” in partnership with CBS Axa, IPN reports.

According to the poll, the population uses mainly the services provided by health facilities (58%), education institutions (12.4%) and the local public administration (11%), which works best. The people trust the most the church (70%), city hall (58.1%) and the mass media (58%). The Government, Parliament and Presidency are the least trusted.

“The fact that the central authorities of the state enjoy the lowest level of confidence is a reason for concern as this actually shows the cumulative effect of economic, social and political factors,” explained “Viitorul” expert Veaceslav Ionita.

The data were collected in September on a sample of 1,108 people. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
